The buzz of work on the brightly colored village of repurposed shipping containers in North Kansas City has prompted many drivers to pull over and ask just exactly what's going on with this anomaly set in an otherwise industrial neighborhood.

NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The newly opened Iron District sits at East 16th Avenue and Iron Street in North Kansas City, covering what once was a gravel parking area in a mostly industrial neighborhood.

If you've noticed a bit of construction going on in North Kansas City, you're not alone. There are so many new places popping up that it's hard to keep track. But one development, in particular, has a buzz of activity coming from its eight restaurants, four retailers, and its holistic space--yes, you read that correctly. After two years of development, the Iron District is ready to open at the crossroads of 16th Street and Iron Street.

Iron District (1599 Iron Street) will soon be home to a dozen businesses once the shopping, food, and drink destination opens in a few weeks.
